About Saba Leather Softening Oil

A water-based softener infused with water miscible oils that are designed for softening hardened leather.

For optimal results, apply it liberally using a cloth, focusing on the flesh side for enhanced effectiveness. Allow it to soak in overnight, and repeat the process if needed.

Directions

Apply generously by hand, rubbing the oil directly into the leather. Leave overnight to allow the softening agents to penetrate. Repeat the application as required until the leather becomes noticeably softer. Softening should begin after approximately 24 hours. Gently massaging the leather during the process will assist penetration. If applied to the grain side, cleaning and, in some cases, refinishing may be required afterwards.

Can this actually restore hardened or stiff leather, or just improve it slightly?

Saba Leather Softening Oil is designed to penetrate and soften hardened leather, not just condition the surface. Its water-based, oil-infused formula works into the substrate over time, helping to loosen stiff fibres and restore flexibility. Results will depend on the condition of the leather, but repeated applications and working the material will significantly improve softness in most cases.

How best applied?

It is best applied by hand. Apply a liberal amount direct into the leather. It works best from the flesh side; however, it is also effective from the grain side.

How long does it take before the softening effect becomes noticeable?

All leathers are different; one application can start the softening process. Also, massaging the leather helps opens up dried up stiff fibres.
