About Crosslinkers

Increases the physical properties of the topcoat, for a robust finish.

EverNew Crosslinker is a water based additive designed to significantly enhance the physical performance of leather topcoats and surface finishes. When added to compatible coatings, it increases durability, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance, resulting in a tougher, more robust finish without compromising flexibility or appearance. Ideal for professional refinishing work, EverNew Crosslinker is perfectly suited for use with EverNew Topcoats and Saba Colour Restore Creme projects, where additional wear resistance and longevity are required.

For use as an additive with compatible leather topcoats and SABA Colour Restore Cream.

Directions

It is recommended to add 2–5% Crosslinker to the topcoat for extra physical properties such as wet rubs. Pot life 2–5 hours. It can be used with SABA Colour Restore Cream.

A small amount treats a comparatively large volume of topcoat, with overall usage depending on the quantity of finish being prepared and the performance requirements of the coating system.

Do I actually need a crosslinker, or will the topcoat perform fine without it?

A crosslinker is not always essential, but it significantly improves the durability and chemical resistance of the finish. Adding 2–5% crosslinker helps the topcoat cure into a stronger, more resistant film, particularly in high-wear or high-contact areas where standard finishes may break down more quickly.

Will adding a crosslinker affect the working time or pot life of the coating?

Once the crosslinker is added to the topcoat, the pot life of the topcoat is approx. 4-6 hours.

Can too much crosslinker make the finish brittle or harder to work with?

Too much crosslinker can create problems such as tackiness, however, a lot of crosslinker will need to be added. Not a common issue.

Is this mainly required for high-wear applications or recommended for all jobs?

Best practise, it should be used for every job, it is eco-friendly and easy to use.
