Why Leather Fades and What You Can Do About It
Fading is a common problem with ANILINE leathers, not so much with pigmented, finished leathers, however, they can also fade over time.
Aniline leathers which are known for their natural beauty and soft touch are produced using dyes. As a general rule, dyes have poor light fastness, even in indirect light dyes can fade. Stahl’s Supronil range of dyes are guaranteed not to fade for 5 years, cheaper versions can display signs of fading within weeks.
Heat, water and using the incorrect cleaning and protection products can also cause discolouration and fading.
